Misleading Yaz Marketing

Yasmin is one of the most popular contraceptive drugs currently available in America - as a result of intense marketing of the product to consumers.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer was recently found guilty of false advertising in its early commercials by a court of law. Initial advertising of Yasmin or Yaz focused not on the contraceptive qualities of the drug, but also on its ability to promote clear skin and issues caused by premenstrual syndrome.

False Advertising of Yaz

One of the well known indirect effects of almost all contraceptive drugs is that it clears the skin... almost to the point of perfection. Hence, people with pimples and acne can be cured of their condition, as a result of the contraceptive drug.

However, contraceptive pills are not allowed to advertise these claims. This is because the drugs are not approved by the FDA for this purpose.

So what is all the controversy with Yaz? Well, in 2006 and 2007, they directly marketed their products as being a contraceptive - whilst also clearing skin and helping with premenstrual syndrome.

The Controversy Continues

In 2009, Yaz was ordered to run new commercials on prime time television which state that Yaz should not be used solely for the secondary purposes listed above.

Additionally, Yasmin cannot be marketed as a solution for:

  • Irritability.
  • Low moods.
  • Headaches.
  • Bloating.

If you are currently taking Yasmin to treat these premenstrual issues (or to gain clear skin) you might want to think again about using it. Recent evidence suggests that the drug has also been implicated in a number of serious medical cases, whereby users have suffered strokes, heart attacks, and blood clotting.

If you believe that you've already been suffering adverse effects as a result of this misleading advertising, fill out a claim form to request compensation for these adverse effects on your health. Seek legal assistance from experienced lawyers at Consumer Injury Alert. Though there is nothing that can be substituted for the agony and hazards on your health that you endured because of Yasmin but as a responsible consumer, you cannot let the manufacturer of Yaz get away with such negligence for nothing.
